Tonight I will have the esteemed pleasure of seeing one of my favorite acts, the current lords of southern rock, the infamous Drive-by Truckers. Having seen a setlist database of there's there is no way I could possibly be disappointed. They play an even spread of old classics as well as deep cuts and new material. Plus it doesn't hurt to be touring behind their most successful record ever. I am so glad that The Big To-Do debuted at #22 on the Billboard 100, sometimes truly great bands to get popular. Recently I have been listening to my copy of one of their earlier records, The Dirty South. That album is an absolute modern masterpiece. Songs like "Where The Devil Don't Stay" and "Puttin' People on The Moon" are extremely poignant lyrically while being grounded with gritty rock guitar. Check out "Lookout Mountain" a guitar-solo swapping fist-pumping anthem. There are still tickets available for tonight's show, so if you are in Los Angeles and are looking for something to do on a Friday night. Come down to The Avalon buy yourself a whiskey and enjoy the sultry sounds from the dirty south.
